HOUGHTON - Houghton County Treasurer Kathy Beattie easily won re-election Tuesday, defeating challenger Linda Pizzi.
Beattie, a Republican, beat Democratic challenger Pizzi in a landslide, getting 8,791 votes (62.8 percent) to Pizzi's 5,178 (37).
Beattie was first elected in 2004, defeating then-Treasurer Janet Gregorich.
Shortly before the final precinct came in, a weary Beattie was looking forward to today, when she'll be out taking her campaign signs down.
"I'm glad that the election is over, and I'm looking forward to another four years of making some progress in our office," she said.
Pizzi thanked her supporters for assistance with their campaign.
"Their efforts are greatly appreciated," he said. "And my congratulations to Kathy Beattie."
