ONTONAGON - An order for the purchase of new radios from Anderson Communication in Marquette was approved at Monday night's Ontonagon village board meeting.
The total price of the equipment is not to exceed $4,198.
"We need it to be compliant with the (Federal Communications Commission) narrow banding requirements by Jan. 1, 2013," said village manager Joseph Erickson in a telephone interview this morning.
Radio function in the village will remain the same as the new radios will simply replace older ones that are unable to be reprogrammed.

The 400 and 500 block of the road will be closed between 6 and 8 p.m. Dec. 1 for a tree lighting.
