CALUMET - Zachary Rupright, 22, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Nov. 12, 2012.

He was born Aug. 15, 1990, at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, first son of Ronald Rupright and Heather Brinegar. He graduated from Elma High School in Elma, Wash. During his high school years, he was a wrestler and a member of the football team.

Following high school, he moved to the Copper Country in 2008 where he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After the service, he returned to the U.P. in 2012, living in Ironwood for a short time before returning to the Copper Country where he worked at the Michigan House in Calumet.

Zachary was a loving son, wonderful big brother and had a tremendous love for his family and friends, often putting their needs and feelings before his own. Zac touched the lives of more people than we will ever know with his beautiful smile and bear hugs. He was a big teddy bear and will be greatly missed.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and had a love for animals. From a young age, Zac loved food and enjoyed cooking for the people he cared about.

Zac was a faithful attender at Grace Christian Fellowship in Calumet, recently being baptized in Aug. by Pastor Merle McGee.

Surviving are his mother, Heather (Arnie Kinnunen) Brinegar of Laurium; his father, Ronald (Rhonda) Rupright of Wash.; brothers, Jacob Rupright, Gabe Rupright, Patrick Ponder, Eli Ponder and Killian McClellan; sisters, Noelle Ponder, Amanda Rupright and Adriana Rupright; paternal grandparents, William and Grace Rupright of Wash.; maternal grandparents, Bill Brinegar of Wyo. and Phil and Ann Young of Colo.; special nephew, Reilly; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Grace Christian Fellowship on Pine Street in Calumet at noon with Pastor Merle McGee to officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with arrangements.
