NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jeannine Marie (Niemi) (Thibodeaux) Onge, age 57, of Nashville, Tenn., went to Heaven to be with Jesus early Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012, at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

She was born Jan. 20, 1955, in El Paso, Texas. Jeannine graduated from Calumet High School and received a Nursing degree from Michigan Technological University. She later received a second degree from MTU in Scientific and Technical Communication.

Jeannine lived a lot of life in a preciously short amount of time. In her 37 years as a Registered Nurse, she touched many lives, not only patients, but also their families and her co-workers. Jeanine most recently worked for Willowbrook Home Health and Hospice. Her compassion, sense of humor and wit consistently brightened everyone's day. Jeannine was loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to know her, especially her family.

Jeannine was also a real estate agent who went above and beyond for her clients. She was truly generous, an advocate for the less fortunate and always put the welfare of others before her own. She will be deeply missed beyond what can be expressed by our words or tears. Even so, she left us with a treasure of memories that will keep her always close to our hearts and minds.

We will miss her incredible Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffee.

Jeanine battled multiple illnesses and beat death many times. She was a strong person and endured a tremendous amount of hardships. Jeannine's favorite place to be was the beach and the last year-and-a-half of her life she was able to spend many weeks at her condo on the beach in Daytona Beach, Fla.

She is in an even better place now with no sickness or sorrow.

She was preceded in death by a son, Page Onge, Jr.; a brother, Lawrence (Larry) Niemi; and mother-in-law, Mary Alice Onge.

She is survived by her husband, Page Onge of Nashville; sons Joshua Onge and wife Melanie of Gonzales, La., Jason Thibodeaux and wife Jennifer of Ponca City, Okla.; daughter, Jaime Thibodeaux and husband Craig Taylor of Bemidji, Minn.; father and mother, Melvin (Mel) and Beatrice (Bea) Niemi of Calumet; father-in-law, Richard Ong of Elkhart, Ind.; brother, Kenneth (Ken) Niemi and wife Laura of Laurium; sisters, Melissa (Missy) Baillod and husband Brendon of Marshall, Wis., and Darlene Buckner and husband Randy of Alma, Mich.; grandchildren, Isaac Ong, Isabella Ong, Jeremy Burns, Jace Thibodeaux and Jillian Thibodeaux; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was grateful for the care the Cancer Treatment Center of America gave her in Zion, Ill.

St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House were two of her favorite charities.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, and the Funeral Service will be at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home, 1101 Lebanon Rd., Nashville, TN (615) 255-4193.
