Just a suggestion

November 24, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

Oh, calm down (DMG Nov. 17/18). No one is commanding anything. The Saari letter merely suggested an if/then scenario, i.e., if a person accepts Jesus Christ as Savior then he/she "will no longer [need/want to] refer to Mother Nature."

Acceptance of Christ involves humbling oneself, repentance and living for Him. Apparently this salvation message is highly offensive. All man-made religions involve systems of works as prerequisites to salvation. The Christian faith alone is based solely on faith in the finished work of Christ. But of course many do not want to hear this. Hence, the offense.

"Non-Christian people" do get newspaper coverage, e.g., front page article about a Baha'i study group forming (DMG 3/4 Nov 2012). And I take issue with a statement made therein that "... all religions are divine in nature and come from the same source." Religions are belief systems. What about Satanism?

The first false religion in the Bible can be traced back to Nimrod, his wife, Semiramus, and her child, Tammuz. From this source branched out other false religions (see Genesis 11). What about atheism which believes in no deities?

While "universal peace" is a nice concept, it can never be accomplished by man on this Earth. The bible clearly says this world has a finite end. In Matthew 28:20 Jesus says, "...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."
