HOUGHTON - The Daily Mining Gazette has been known for its news coverage of the Copper Country for more than 150 years.
Starting this year, it's including coverage of a different kind.
This year's "We've Got You Covered" coat drive is a first for the Gazette and is a way for the organization to help collect new and gently used outerwear for a worthy cause.

The Daily Mining Gazette is a donation site for the “We’ve Got You Covered” coat drive benefiting the Angel Mission in Calumet. New and used outerwear will be collected through Dec. 20.
New and used coats, scarves, hats, mittens, gloves, winter boots and snowpants for kids and adults will be collected at the Gazette office in Houghton through Dec. 20. Items collected will be donated to the Angel Mission Free Store in Calumet for its Christmas distribution through its Angel Tree program.
"We always need coats, especially for kids," said Angel Mission Free Store Co-Director Terry Bazin. Both genders are in need of donations, she said, and all ages/sizes for coats are welcome.
Winter boots and snowpants are also in very short supply, she said.
"Snowpants, oh my gosh," she said. "We always need snowpants for kids. We should have a snowpant drive."
The drive is organized by the Gazette's Doing Mighty Good (DMG) Committee, which has raised funds and awareness for worthy causes in the past such as the American Cancer Society and the CopperDog 150 Sled Dog Race.
"We're a partner in this community, and through the DMG Committee we can boost the morale of our staff as well as helping worthy organizations in the Copper Country," said Gazette Publisher Michael Scott.
