George H. Turner

BELOIT, Wis. - George H. Turner, 80, of Beloit, Wis., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in the UW Hospital, Madison, Wis.

He was born June 10, 1932, in Calumet, the son of William and Marcella Trombly Turner. After the death of his father, his mother and step father, Edward Luokkanen raised him.

George was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army, retiring after 26 years as Sergeant Major.

He married Dorothy Chesky on Dec. 2, 1983, in Beloit, Wis. She predeceased him on March 26, 2004.

George was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2306 and the Loyal Order of the Moose 191.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah (Janet Drake) Turner of Oconomowoc, Wis.; step- children, Glo (Bill) Theisen of Madison, Wis., Cindy Chesky of Beloit, Wis., and Dennis Chesky of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Brent and Keely Theisen of Madison, Wis., Derek and Marcy Theisen of Ixonia, Wis., Jennifer Chesky of St. Petersburg, Fla., Misty DuCharme and Billy DuCharme of Beloit, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Reese, Cody, Kyle, Harlan Theisen and Jewlee DuCharme; two sisters, Eleanor (Joe) Mullin of Lake Linden and Joan (Bruce) Bedord of Milwaukee, Wis.; brother Kenneth (Judy) Turner of Elba, Ala.; sister-in-law, Shirley Turner of Janesville, Wis.; good friend, Marie Erickson; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, father, step-father, brothers, Eugene and Marvin Turner and twin brother, Gerald Turner.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, Wis., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Salvation Army, ASPCA or the Rock County Humane Society.
