SOUTH LYON, Mich. - Eleanor A. Manley, 95, passed away Dec. 5 after complications from pneumonia.
She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in South Range, to Emil and Alma Hakola. She and her father lived in Finland for about a year following the death of her mother in 1921.
In 1927, her father married Naimi Siilanpaa. After residing in Chassell and L'Anse, they moved to Elo in 1930.
On June 26, 1943, she married Wilfred G. Manley of Detroit, formerly from Calumet. They lived in Detroit and Redford Township before moving to South Lyon in 1979.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Southfield where she was very active in their women's groups and taught Sunday School. She was also an active member of the Finnish Center Assoc.
Her husband of 67 years preceded her in death in 2012.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen (George) Nutwell of Crofton, Md., Elaine (Charles) Lada of New Hudson, Mich., and Alice Manley of Westland, Mich.; grandson, Christopher Lada of Boonton, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be in Thayer Rock Funeral Home, Farmington on Monday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m.
