Mary Margaret Vertin

LAKE LINDEN - Mary Margaret Vertin, 85, longtime resident of Laurium, and most recently of Lake Linden, passed away in Wisconsin on Dec. 8, 2012.

She was born Apr. 24, 1927, in Lake Linden, a daughter of Michael and Albina (Fournier) Laverdiere. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. Her employers included Gartners and UPPCO.

Margaret was married to Bernard Vertin in St. Joseph Church on Aug. 20, 1955. He passed away in April, 2000.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Calumet where she served on the Altar Society for many years. She was most recently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.

She was a great baker and was well-known for her cooking and artistry with food. Margaret dedicated her life to faith, family and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Roland; sisters, Cecilia Michaud, Mercedes, Beauvilla, Isabelle Monette, Alvina Belisle, Doris Cook and Catherine Laverdiers.

She is survived by four children: Steve (Marge) Vertin of Appleton, Wis., Renee Vertin of West Bend, Wis., Vicki (Bruce) Grover of Allen, Texas and Keith (Carolyn) Vertin of Parker, Col.; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Erin and Steph Vertin, Michael and Jessica Grover, Kyle Vertin and Dannielle Ridgley; a sister, Jean Spehar of Van Nuys, Calif.; nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom, you will be sadly missed by your children, grandchildren and family. We will always carry you in our hearts.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with the Rosary at 7:30. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
