Hero cat missing in Laurium

December 15, 2012
By Gazette staff , The Daily Mining Gazette

LAURIUM - The residents of the Laurium house where a fire broke out last week are looking for their cat.

Vicki and Jeff Waatti's cat, Chloe, alerted them to the early morning Dec. 7 fire by jumping on Jeff's chest and waking him up.

Chloe has since been spotted near the Waattis' Iroquois Street home. Early Thursday morning, an Isle Royale Street resident found the cat outside and gave it water and food; the cat then wanted to be let back outside. The person did not know it was the missing cat until seeing a flyer later.

Chloe is an 11-year-old Maine Coon mix. She is described as mostly white with some brown, black and red, with a dark spot on her nose.

Chloe also has an extra toe on her front and back paws.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nancy Waatti at 337-0197 or go to the Lost & Found Paws of the U.P. Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/Lost-Found-Paws-of-the-UP/261412640588767?sk=info.
