BARAGA - The result of a recount of the votes for two candidates in the Saturday general election for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Council produced no change in the original count.
The first count of votes for the Baraga District showed candidate Gary F. Loonsfoot Sr. with 181 votes and 184 votes for candidate Don Messer Jr.
Tribal rules require results separated by three or fewer votes be recounted.
After Monday's recount, Diana Chaudier, KBIC election board chair, said the results for both candidates remain the same as originally counted.
