Edna I. Ryynanen

HOUGHTON - Edna I. Ryynanen, 100, a former resident of Houghton passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2012 at Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where she had been a resident patient.

She was born Feb. 17, 1912, in Houghton, a daughter of the late Edwin and Hilma (Rolig) Ryynanen. She was a graduate of Houghton High School with the Class of 1929.

Following graduation, Edna worked for McDonald's Store in Houghton, Swift Hardware, the Star Bakery and retired from U.P. Power.

Ms. Ryynanen was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Houghton.

Preceding her in death were her brothers, Eino and Edwin; her sisters, Esther Ryynanen, Ellen Ryynanen and Katri Laakso.

Surviving are her nieces, nephews and their families.

Funeral services for Edna will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Richard Eskola to officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
