CALUMET - Joan F. Evan-Wong, age 83, passed away at her home this past weekend.
She was born in Calumet, a daughter or Joseph and Irene Mishica. Joan attended the local schools and was a graduate of Western Michigan University.
Joan worked in Dearborn as an elementary school teacher for several years and then worked in Europe as a teacher with the U.S. Army in Germany, France and later, in England.
While in England, she married Dr. Leslie Evan-Wong. He preceded her in death. Joan retired to the family home in Calumet with her beloved dog, Gigi.
She is survived by her sister, Mary C. Lewis of Calumet; two brothers, John (Jean) of Hancock and Robert of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
