Christmas tree disposal

December 26, 2012
By Gazette Staff , The Daily Mining Gazette

HOUGHTON - Christmas tree collection will begin soon in Houghton and Hancock.

In Houghton, according to Department of Public Works Director Mark Zenner, natural trees will be picked up by the DPW "as time permits," and collection will go on for about a month.

"After January, you're on your own," Zenner said.

Trees must be put by the curb but not in the way of plows.

The same is true in Hancock, where City Manager Glenn Anderson said pick-up will take place in the first week of January by the DPW. After the first week of January, residents should bring their trees to the DPW garage between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
