Houghton man killed in snowmobile crash

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - A 41-year-old Houghton man was killed Friday night when he drove his snowmobile under a steel cable on private Franklin Township property.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post were called to the scene of the crash. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Portage Health by Mercy EMS. The victim's name is currently being withheld pending notification of family. Alcohol was involved in the crash.
