HURONTOWN - Lucille M. Butkovich, 95, a former resident of Hurontown passed away Friday evening Jan. 4, 2013, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe where she had been a resident patient for the past 13 years.
She was born on July 29, 1917, in Hurontown, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mabel (Rickard) Philpott. As a child, Lucille attended Houghton Schools.
Lucille was united in marriage to Peter Butkovich. The couple had resided in Dodgeville and then in Hurontown. Peter preceded Lucille in death in 1991.
Mrs. Butkovich was a member of the St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. She enjoyed needle working, knitting and crocheting for her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband; her daughters; Donna Hiltunen and Barbara Koskiniemi; her parents; her son-in-law, Douglas Hiltunen; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Butkovich.
Surviving are her children: David Butkovich of Hurontown, Paul (Lois) Butkovich of Green Bay, Wis.; 30 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brother, Claude (Mabel) Philpott of Flint, Mich.; her son-in-law, Bernard Koskiniemi of Laurium; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 9, 2013, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Fr. Corbin Eddy to celebrate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, in the St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Houghton from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.
