Verna Helen Swanson

LAKE LINDEN - Verna Helen Swanson of Lake Linden, died peacefully on Jan. 4, 2013, at the age of 95.

Verna was born in Calumet Nov. 20, 1917, to the late Alida (Alaniemi) Krans and Elis Krans. She attended and graduated from Calumet High School.

She then moved to Chicago where she met and married her late husband, Henry J. Swanson in Aug. 1941. As a military wife, she embarked on many adventures, living in Hawaii and Japan for several years, eventually settling in California. Upon Henry's death, Verna moved back to her hometown of Calumet amongst family and friends.

She had a passion for life, loved to laugh and made it impossible for anyone around her not to laugh and be happy with her. Hers was a life lived and she was so loved. Her presence will be forever missed.

Her remaining family includes two brothers, Howard Krans of Casper, Wyo. and Jack Krans of Calumet; as well as several nieces and nephews.
