To the editor:
We want to thank our Keweenaw community once again for making our second Run Like the Finn event a success. The proceeds will be going to the Copper Country Police and Fire Relief Fund, an organization that helps fire and accident victims in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.
Special thanks go to the Minnetonka Resort and Portage Health for their financial donations; Pat's Foods for donating bananas and snacks; Rick and Copperman for donating signage and for course set up, tear down and general guidance; Ron and Mark at Copper Island Printing; Calumet Township Fire Department for hosting our event; the Houghton County Sheriff's Department, Calumet Township, Laurium Village and Calumet Village Fire Departments for providing traffic control and crossing guards at intersections and to all of the volunteers and runners.
Undoubtedly, the most special participant was Amy Roberts. Our first Run Like the Finn was for Amy. This year we were very blessed to be able to run with the Finn.
Thank you all for your support. Look for us in 2013 - our tentative date is Dec. 28.
