MARQUETTE - Both the boys' and girls' Houghton Alpine ski teams finished second at Marquette Mountain in a meet hosted and won by Marquette Thursday.
On the boys' side, Houghton had 70 points to Marquette's 28.
The Gremlins' top slalom skier was Tony Stein, who took fifth. Three others took top 10s in the race, including Jacob Jarvis (sixth), Daniel Henderson (ninth) and Connor Johnson (10th). The race was won by Marquette's Joe Weber.
In giant slalom, Houghton had less success but two put two skiers in the top 10, Ian Helman in eighth and Jarvis ninth. Matt Anderson of Marquette won the race.
In girls' GS, Leslie Hamar of Houghton snagged a third-place finish, with Ellie Lucier coming in eighth and Brianne Maggio 10th.
Hamar fared even better in slalom, taking second behind Marquette's Whitney Stillwell. Maggio posted an eighth-place finish and Lucier was 10th.
The Houghton girls finished with 63 points to Kingsford's 41.
The U.P.'s ski teams converge on Blackjack Mountain in Gogebic County Tuesday.
