CALUMET - Mary Joyce Harvey, 69, a resident of Calumet, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born June 30, 1943, in Laurium, a daughter of Leslie and Martha (Johnson) Penpraze. Mary attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School, Class of 1961.
She worked for Calumet & Hecla Mines in the office, Langdon's Market in Kearsarge and for the Apostolic Home for the Aged in Calumet as an aide until the home closed in 2007.
On July 20, 1963, she married William Harvey and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Penpraze; and a sister, Florence Peterson.
Mary enjoyed gardening, cleaning and cooking. She was an active member of Calumet United Methodist Church. She loved spending time outdoors - especially in her garden and she loved her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, LeAnn (Kevin) Harju of Calumet; grandchildren, Heather and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Trista; a brother, Thomas (J) Penpraz of Corvallis, Ore.; two sisters, Dorothy (Dave) Murvich of Faithhorn, Mich. and Sharon (Bob) Baranowski of Calumet; two brothers-in-law, LeRoy (Helga) Harvey of S.C. and Donald (Arlene) Harvey of Cape Coral, Fla.
A memorial service will be held for Mary at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet. The Rev. Bob White will officiate. To honor Mary, please wear something purple, her favorite color, to the service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m.
