EWEN - Dillon Gordon added another eye-popping number to a career full of them Friday night, scoring 43 points in Ewen-Trout Creek's 65-48 win over Houghton.
"He was amazing. Just outstanding tonight. He got in the paint and finished multiple times with his floater. He was real hot from the perimeter early, then started getting by people and finishing," E-TC coach Brad Besonen said.
The effort was the first game of 40 points or more in Gordon's career and eclipsed a career high of 39 from the 2012 Class D district tournament against Forest Park and in the 2012-13 season opener against Ontonagon.
Houghton (7-3) trailed 30-18 at the half but cut the lead down to six with three minutes left. Its pressing defense couldn't fluster Gordon, however.
"When they brought the press on Dillon, he just flew by it and got a couple floaters in the lane," Besonen said.
Trent Keteri led the Gremlins with 13 points. Mike Saari added 10. Houghton, which played without injured point guard Ryan LaBerge, hosts Jeffers Tuesday night.
E-TC (10-2) hosts Lake Linden-Hubbell Tuesday.

Pietila paced Chassell (5-6) with five treys in the first half. Brant Ryynanen added a pair and the Panthers were up 31-18 at the half.
Carson Ryynanen helped Chassell close the door, scoring 10 points in the third quarter alone, to go with Pietila's final two triples of the game, as Chassell all but put it away.
Pietila finished with a season-high 23 points, while Ryynanen was one short of his best of the year, scoring 22.
