DOLLAR BAY - Dollar Bay fell just a little too far behind to make up for it in the second half, as the Watersmeet Nimrods got out of town with a 48-42 boys' basketball victory.
The Bays trailed by one after a quarter, but the lead ballooned to 29-16 at the halftime break thanks to a pair of late treys from Watersmeet's Israel Bolton.
"We just had a poor second half of the second quarter," DB coach Jesse Kentala said.
The Bays caught their stride in the second half, outscoring Watersmeet 17-7 in quarter three, but the Nimrods proved a little stronger down the stretch for the victory.
"This was probably our most consistent offensive game of the year," Kentala said. "We attacked their press well and guys are looking to be more aggressive. They're looking to shoot."
Tom Dunstan led the Bays (1-12) with 12 points. Four others had at least six apiece. Dollar Bay resumes Copper Country Conference play Friday night at Ontonagon.
