EAGLE?RIVER, Wis. - The Eagle River Falcons swept both Copper Country teams in Great Lakes Hockey League play over the weekend, defeating Portage Lake 7-4 Saturday and Calumet 9-5 Friday.
Saturday, the Pioneers got shorthanded goals from Pete Rouleau and Ryan Sullivan to go into the second intermission tied at 4, but Eagle River scored three in the game's last 1:57 to take the win.
Charlie Turner and Evan Kangas also scored for PL?(9-3-0)?and Jordan Roy made 26 saves.
Friday, six second-period goals against sunk the Wolverines despite Josh Harju's hat trick. Logan Rastello and Wyatt Smith added goals and Ryan Patrick made 31 saves for Calumet (6-5-1).
Both teams play single home games vs. DePere next weekend.
