HANCOCK - Some people make a business out of health, and Saturday some of those health-related businesses will be on display during an open house at the Jutila Center for Global Design and Business.

Bonnie Holland, director of the Jutila Center, which is on Michigan Street in Hancock, said the open house runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Besides the main building, there will be presentations in the center's annex building on Water Street.

This is the first time for such an open house of wellness and health-related businesses, and it was those business owners who decided to do the event.

"We have a group of companies that are involved with wellness," she said.

There are about 20 wellness-related businesses in the building, Holland said, and possibly 19 of them will be represented at the open house.

Holland said visitors may have questions about health-related issues, which the business owners may be able to answer.

"It's a good time to ask those questions," she said.

Holland said the event is not only a way for visitors to find out how to get healthy, it will also be an opportunity to find out how to stay well.

"We're looking at it from different angles," she said.

There will be demonstrations of Nordic walking, and the Zumba exercise method, Holland said. There will be Finlandia University nursing and physical therapy assistants doing various health screenings.

Visitors will have an opportunity to get information from professionals about such things as acupuncture and to get nutritional advice.

"This is a good way to ask questions," she said.

Holland said there will representatives of various food providers giving out healthy snacks throught the building.

There is no charge to take part in the open house, Holland said, but some groups or organizations may ask for a donation.
