Michael H. “Bobo” Bukovich, Jr.

PAINESDALE - Michael H. Bukovich, Jr., 73, a resident of Painesdale, died on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Portage Health.

He was born in Hancock, a son of the late Michael and Florence (Metsa) Bukovich, Sr.

Bobo was employed at Copper Range Co., White Pine Copper Co. and prior to retirement, worked for Adams Township Public Works.

On Aug. 17, 1963, he was married to the former Carol Bernier at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Chassell.

Bobo enjoyed being in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and gardener and had a passion for restoring old cars. The highlight of his life were his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their hockey games and dance recitals and cheering them on.

Surviving are his wife, Carol of Painesdale; his children and grandchildren: Michael (Ann) Naasko of Maple Grove, Minn. and their children, Paige and Cole, Jodi (Don) Karr of Ashland, Wis. and their children, Claire, Ava and Dean, Robin (Kevin) McCarthy of Marquette and their children, Luke, Sydney and Alyson and Scott of Atlantic Mine and his children, Carson, Mason and Marissa; his step-mother, Freda Bukovich of Houghton; three sisters, Karen (Alan Autio) Jolley of Painesdale, Janie (Al) Kommes of Portage Twp. and Michele (Jim) Michaelson of Tapiola; two brothers, Mark (Jen) of Hancock and Jack "Jocko" (Jen) of Portage Twp.; a special niece, Gina (Duane) Snell of Baltic; a sister-in-law, Cleo (Robert) Penberthy of Portland, Ore.; and close family friends, Debbie and Scott Beyers of Baltic; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bobo was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David "Butch" and Joey; a nephew R. Jim Penberthy; and a brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Bernier.

As requested, cremation has taken place. There will be no public services. A private celebration of Bobo's life will be held at a later date.
