George R. Tesch

SOUTH RANGE - George R. Tesch, 85, a resident of South Range, died on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1927. After high school he entered the Army and served for three years stateside. Soon after his military duty he married his wife Corinne. George was employed by the Old Line Life Insurance Company for many years.

He enjoyed golf and was an avid Packers fan. His most memorable Packers memory was when he traveled to Green Bay and saw the winning touchdown in the game known as the "Ice Bowl." He retired in 1990 and relocated to the Houghton area. He resided at the Douglas House for a few years and for health reasons moved to South Range.

George is survived by a son, Michael Tesch of Hancock. He was especially grateful for the care he received from Debra and Gary LaBeau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of 60 years, Corinne.

A prayer service for George will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at the Plowe Funeral Home of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
