RIPLEY - It was a successful Saturday for the Mont Ripley Race Team as the ski club took top spot in its marquee event, the Keweenaw Cup.
MRRT recorded 59 points, three better than the Marquette Mountain Race Team. Pine Mountain finished with 12 and Win Alpine (Grand Rapids) 11.
MRRT's Mikko Salmi was best in his U-8 boys class in both slalom and giant slalom, as was Payne Gregorie (U-14 boys).

Madison Peer finished atop both giant slalom and slalom among the U-16 girls and so did Leslie Hamar in U-18 girls.
In giant slalom, MRRT's Jenna Stein and Sara Rowe finished in a dead heat at 1 minute, 8.29 seconds over two runs, which was the best time in their class (U-14 girls) and among all female racers, just a hair faster than Hamar (1:08.46) and Ally Fenton (1:08.87).
The fastest boys' GS racer was U-18 winner Connor Johnson, about a half-second ahead of teammate Jacob Jarvis. Daniel Henderson, third overall, also won his U-16 class.
Hamar broke the minute mark over two slalom runs for a 59.55 clocking, while Rowe was solo champ for the U-14 set.
Jarvis' 56.33 took home top honors overall and in U-18 boys' slalom.
