To the editor:
Given: The Second Amendment gives us the right "to keep and bear arms."
Given: Guns do not kill, people kill.
Given: 99-plus percent of gun owners keep weapons for sport, self-defense and/or to resist and overthrow a government that violates the constitution (some think that is now).
However, any psycho or criminal can walk into a gun show and walk out with more firepower than I was issued in Vietnam. In some states, a person passing the background check can buy any number of weapons and resell them to the psychos and criminals, no questions asked.
The Founding Fathers were rational men. Certainly there is a rational way to protect the rights of the responsible 99-plus percent while keeping weapons out of the hands of the psychos and criminals.
