Melvin S. Siira

YUMA, Ariz. - Melvin S. Siira, 68, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 in Yuma, Ariz. He was born July 6, 1944, to the late William and Mayme (Tauriainen) Siira. He married Shirley Lahti on Mar. 14, 1967. Melvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He and his wife Shirley enjoyed 46 memorable years together raising a family. His fondest memories were elk and deer hunting in the Little Belt Mountains of Montana, and over the span of 40 plus years he made lifelong friends.

Melvin served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966 and enjoyed his tour patrolling the Berlin wall. He did real estate appraising in South Dakota, Michigan and Montana for more than 40 years. He and Shirley wintered in Yuma, Arizona.

Melvin will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Michele (Brian) and Tracy (James); grandchildren, Alexandria and Rob Murphy of Evergreen, Colo., Ava and Weston Barnell of Henderson, Nev.; and sister, Ruth Aho of Calumet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edsel.
