RIPLEY - Eva M. Brey, 86, a longtime resident of Ripley, passed away early Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, 2013, at PortagePointe in Hancock following a short illness.
She was born in Franklin Mine on Sept. 17, 1926, to the late Caesar and Lydia (Papin) Bonini.
She met and married James Brey on January 24, 1948. Together, they raised three children: Paulette, Robert and Tina.
Eva enjoyed her children and grandchildren every day of her life as they meant everything to her.
She was a member of Church of the Resurrection in Hancock and was a former member of the choir. She enjoyed many church activities, her weekly prayer groups and getting together with her friends.
Besides her parents, Eva was also preceded in death by her husband, James; her daughters, Paulette Levine and Tina James; several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Sherri) Brey; son-in-law, Henry Levine; four grandchildren, Ryan (Andrea) James, Heather (Mark) McGee, Ashley (Shaun) St. Pierre and Jimmy (fiancee, Whitney Tapani) Brey; three great-grandchildren, Addison and Alexis James and Zoe St. Pierre; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Mar. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber to officiate. Spring burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
Friends may call in the church for one hour before the Mass.
