HOUGHTON - Martha L. Kipina, 52, a former resident of the Douglass House Apartments, Houghton, died on Monday, Mar. 4, 2013, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hancock on Dec. 22, 1960, a daughter of Ernest and Miriam (Riutta) Kipina.
Martha was a 1979 graduate of the Cedar Lake Academy in Cedar Lake, Mich. and attended Andrews University for two years.
Martha resided in the Chicago area where she was employed as a secretary for various attorneys.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Houghton.
She loved animals, especially her kittens.
Surviving her are her parents, Ernest and Miriam Kipina of Houghton; a brother, Paul (Beth) Kipina of Oswego, Ill.; a sister, Ann Marie Kipina of Chicago, Ill.; two uncles; numerous cousins; and many friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be scheduled later this year. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
