L'ANSE - A trial has been tentatively scheduled for a Baraga woman accused of embezzling from her former employer.

The trial of Cindy Wadaga, 45, could last as long as a week, both sides agreed Thursday during Wadaga's pretrial hearing in Baraga County Circuit Court.

"It's a very complicated case. ... It's a case that probably will go to trial," said Wadaga's attorney, Matthew Eliason. "It could be a long trial. There's tons and tons of documents."

The trial was set to take place in June.

Wadaga allegedly embezzled from First Choice Auto Body, where she worked as office manager and bookkeeper from June 2009 through June 2011.

Wadaga also serves as treasurer for the village of Baraga and treasurer of the Baraga Area Schools athletic boosters.

She is charged with embezzlement of $20,000 or more but less than $50,000, a 10-year felony. Wadaga has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
