Lois Joffee

HANCOCK - Lois (nee Shenowsky) Joffee, 94, passed away on Feb. 28, 2013, in Philadelphia, Penn. She was formerly from Hancock and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Lois was the beloved wife of the late Harry Joffee, loving mother of Bobbie Sue (Richard) Locke, Jill (Jeff) Strauss, and the late Herman Joffee. She was the cherished grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of three, and is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

Lois grew up in Duluth, Minn., the youngest of four sisters. She married Harry in 1938 and spent most of her married life in Hancock until they retired to Arizona in 1981. In Hancock she was a busy homemaker and active in many organizations, including the women's auxiliary of St. Joseph's Hospital, Temple Jacob, the Girl Scouts, the Civic League and the Copper Country Chorale. She was also a big support to Harry in the family business, Joffee's Mens Store and Family Shoe Store.

In Scottsdale she was also active in her synagogue and the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, where she was president of the auxiliary.

A memorial service is being held in Philadelphia and the funeral and interment will be held in Hancock after the Forest Hill Cemetery opens in the spring.

The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is assisting with arrangements.
