CALUMET - Joseph Carl Lukezich, 92, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Sunday morning, March 17, 2013, at the Omega House in Houghton.
He was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Calumet, a son of the late John and Mary (Popovich) Lukezich.
Carl graduated from Sacred Heart School with the Class of 1938.
On Oct. 17, 1953, he was married to the former Grace Giachino in Copper Harbor.
Carl worked for Wholesale Hardware Co. in Ohio until enlisting in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his time in service, he worked as a Prudential Life Insurance agent in Calumet for 31 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Post 3900 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Mary Jo Crawford; four brothers, John, Rudy, Edward and Albin; and three sisters, Mary, Rose and Ann.
Surviving are his wife, Grace; son, Thomas Lukezich of Gladstone; grandchildren, Betsy Crawford, Eric Lukezich and Megan Lukezich; great-grandson, Easton Crawford; son-in-law, James Crawford of Calumet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 19 at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Calumet with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.
The family will receive friends in the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
