HANCOCK - June P. Kus, 89, a former resident of Hancock and Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Home in Hubbell, passed away Tuesday afternoon March 19, 2013, at the Portage Hospital in Hancock where she had been a patient for the past day.
She was born on June 28, 1923, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Frank and Flora.
June was a graduate of the Houghton High School.
Following school, she resided in the Detroit area where she worked as a switch board operator and also one of the airplane manufacturing plants.
On July 6, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gordon J. Kus. They raised four children and after 25 years together parted ways.
June enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and sewing.
Preceding her in death were her grandson, Kevin; her parents; a sister, Katherine; and her brothers, Carl, John and George.
Surviving are her children, Dale of Lake Linden, Cindy of Hancock, Mary (Peter) of Grafton, Wis., Daniel of Livonia; grandchildren, Dale, Craig, Marc, Beth, Kristina and Nathan; great grandchildren, Jordan, Tessa, McKenzie, Taylor, Preston, Kendra, Trinity, Jacob and Olivia; a brother, David of Hunstville, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Beatrice of Houghton, Eleanor of Calumet, Darlene of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; her special friend, Mary Tomlinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for June will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. D.J. Rasner to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock.
