Roy Allen “Al Pete” Peterson

CALUMET - Roy Allen Peterson, 48, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, March 31, 2013.

He was born March 7, 1965, in Laurium to Roy Allen and June (Ahonen) Peterson. He graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1983.

In his younger years, Al worked as a newspaper carrier, cook at the Red Garter Restaurant in Calumet and at Copper Country Dairy. He also worked as a logger for Stubenrauch Logging Co. and Mattila Logging. Most recently, he worked at Red Jacket Machine, as a contractor for Gordy Roberts, Cuda Corp., A&B Industry in Wisconsin and as a self-employed contractor.

Al enjoyed fishing, reading about local history, spending time in the bush and being with his family.

Preceding him in death were his father, Roy Allen Peterson; aunts, Eva Ahonen and Mary Helen Peterson; uncles Donald Peterson, George Ahonen and John Ahonen.

Surviving are his mother, June Peterson of Ahmeek; sister, Amy Peterson of Lake Linden; niece and nephew, Rachel and Gage Peterson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

At Al's request, private funeral services will be held.

The Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with arrangements.
