Pauline Logan

CHASSELL - Pauline Logan, 66, a resident of Chassell, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 5, 2013, in the Emergency Room at Portage Health following a brief illness.

She was born in Hancock, on March 29, 1947, a daughter of the late Arthur and Fannie Mabel (Niemi) Sauvola.

Pauline graduated from the Chassell High School and attended nursing school in Detroit.

On August 17, 1968, she was married to Martin Logan in Hancock. The couple moved to New Hampshire and resided there for 20 years. In 1991, they returned to the area to make their home in Chassell.

Pauline was employed for over 20 years as a registered nurse at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, retiring from there.

Pauline was a member of the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Her family was her life. She loved her children, grandkids and great-grandson alike. She was also an avid gardener and loved flowers.

Surviving are five sons and three daughters: Brett (Janelle) Logan of Woodland, Wash., Abby Logan of Chassell, Kyle (Eileen) Logan of Richland, Wash., Wade (Anna) Logan of Washougal, Wash., Polly Sue (Gary) Goddard of Chassell, Abe (Lisa) Logan of Vancouver, Wash., Tuula (Shawn) Autio of Chassell and Link (Coleen) Logan of Ada, Okla.

27 grandchildren, Trent, Trace, Cole, Lucas, Zane and Devin Logan, Logan, Garrett, Marti, Blade and Maelene Warren, Ryan, Bryce, Cami and Ty Logan, Trenton, Teven and Tristin Collins, Jacy, Zachary, Carly, Emma and Jax Goddard, Dawson and Adelyn Logan, Kyra and Brynn Autio; one great-grandson, Gaven Collins; two brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) Sauvola of Rindge, N.H. and Larry (Gladys) Sauvola of Greer, S.C.; one sister, Kathy Samuli of Hancock; three sisters-in-law, Judith (Donald) Holombo of Houghton, Sheila Sauvola and Ruth Sauvola, both of Greer, S.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, Pauline was also preceded in death by a daughter, Fannie-Mae Logan; and four brothers, Tom, James, David and William Sauvola.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jay Weidner to officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Spring burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery.
