Children and families enjoy the annual Kiwanis Family Fair at the Copper Country Mall Saturday. Every child received a free book and access to various activities throughout the mall. Children could listen to stories read aloud by volunteers from the Portage Lake District Library, learn the dangers of fallen power lines from the Upper Peninsula Power Company and get their faces painted, among other activities. There were also small animals for the children to pet, including cats from the Keweenaw Spay and Neuter Assistance Group, baby chicks and baby lambs and goats from the Copper Country Farm Bureau. Above, children decorate cookies with icing and candy and get their faces painted by volunteers. About 400 children attended the event.
