WAUKESHA, Wis. - Finlandia snagged a win on the baseball diamond Sunday as part of a pair of weekend doubleheaders at Carroll University.

The Pioneers grabbed 5-2 and 15-5 wins in Saturday's games, but Finlandia took the opener Sunday by a 12-9 score and almost had game two before the Pioneers rallied to win 6-5.

In the Finlandia win, Jon Crawford homered four times and had 10 RBIs. He went deep in the second, third, fifth and seventh innings. The Lions led 12-3, and though they gave up six runs in the seventh inning, they finished off their second win of the season.

Luke Paul was winning pitcher, going 6 2/3 innings. He allowed six earned runs and struck out four, but walked six and hit five batters.

In game two, the Lions scored single runs in three of the first four innings and two in the fifth to lead 5-1 after 4 1/2 innings but couldn't hold on, giving up four in the sixth for a walk-off defeat.

Jesus Vasquez had two hits and an RBI for the Lions. He was also the losing pitcher, allowing four earned runs on four hits in six-plus innings.

In Saturday's opener, three runs in the bottom of the sixth were the difference for Carroll. Joe Richard had two of Finlandia's five hits.

The Lions fell victim to two big innings early in game two, though Ricardo Senclair had three hits and three RBIs in the losing effort.

Finlandia (2-17) is scheduled to play at Northwestern College Tuesday.
