TOIVOLA - A two-car garage, shed and doghouse are a complete loss after a fire late Thursday morning in Toivola.

The structures, on the property of Toivola Volunteer Fire Department Chief Garry Hoekstra and his wife Becky on Lakeview Road in Toivola, were completely engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene at about 10 a.m. The fire was contained within an hour. Nobody was home when the fire started.

A plow truck and the heating source for the nearby home, both of which were in the garage, were also destroyed in the blaze. Some siding on the house, located across a wide gravel driveway from the garage, melted from the heat. A steady wind was blowing away from the home.
