William Joyal

DOLLAR BAY - William "Hempa" Joyal, 75, of Dollar Bay, passed away in his home on May 9, 2013.

He was born May 9, 1938, a son of William and Hilia Joyal. He attended schools in Dollar Bay.

William worked for a time in Chicago before returning to the area to work for C&H Mining. He also worked for Elmer Johnson Construction and Moyle Contracting. He later did carpentry and masonry work with his brother David. In his retirement, he ran Junk-tiques in Houghton.

William was married to Marilyn Franks on June 3, 1961. She passed away earlier this year on Jan. 23, 2013.

He enjoyed metal detecting, gardening, hunting, coin collecting and antiques.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his son, Chris; brother, David; sister, Joyce; and his beloved dog, Max.

William is survived by sisters-in-law, Carol Joyal, Gloria (Dave) Walli, Mary (John) Loukus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. Robert White to officiate. Friends may call for an hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
