CALUMET - John Paul Banovetz, 68, passed away at his home on Friday, May 17, 2013.
John was born in Laurium on December 19, 1944, a son of Matthew and Agnes Banovetz and was a 1963 graduate of Calumet High School.
He worked for C&H Mining Company before his 31 year career at Kohler of Kohler, Wis. where he was a foundry foreman.
John returned to Calumet following his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, a CLK Wolverines fan and a car restorer and enthusiast. He loved the outdoors and his dog, "Buddy," his best friend.
John is survived by his brother, Matthew J. Banovetz of Houghton; two nephews, Joseph M (Marjorie) of Laurium and Michael (Ursula) of Eagle River, Alaska.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, with prayer service at 8 p.m.
