Thanks for support

May 24, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

The Keweenaw Storm Girls 19U Hockey Team would like to extend our gratitude to so many people. The support we have received from all over the nation was truly amazing. Locally, we are so humbled by the outpouring of support and by all those connected to the Copper Country who showed up at our games in San Jose.

Special thanks to Calumet Hockey Association and Auxiliary, Copper Country Junior Hockey Association and Auxiliary, and our sponsors Auto Pro Glass & Tire and Center Ice Skate & Sport for being with us all season long. Thanks to Marc Norton, Copper Island Printing, Portage Health and RC Mechanical for their generous support. To Aspirus Keweenaw and all those who supported us with Mitch Lake coming to California to broadcast the games, we are so grateful for your support. Thank you Connie's of Calumet and Toni's of Laurium and to all who purchased pasties to support our team. Thanks to all who purchased tickets in our swing raffle. The winner of the swing was Chuck Johnson. Thank you to Maria at Pat's Foods, Colin at Econo Foods and to all of the customers from both of these locations who donated cans, filled our donation bin with contributions and to all who offered the wishes of good luck and support to our team. Thank you to WLUC-TV6, the Daily Mining Gazette and all our local radio stations for keeping the public informed about our games. Thank you to Renee McConnon, Michelle King and the Calumet Skating Show for inviting our team to participate in this year's show. Thank you Copper Country Oldtimers for your support.

As we returned home as runners-up in the Nation, we are grateful to come home to such an awesome community. Thank you River Valley Bank for your Welcome Home sign, to Mike Gloss and the crew at the Dee Stadium for setting up our games for people in the community to watch, to Sheila Peltier and the crew at the travel agency for getting us all to California and to Mike Edwards and Red Jacket Media for capturing memories for us. A very special thank you goes out to Mike and Susie Aldrich and the San Jose Sharks for taking care of our team like only true Yoopers do. Your support and generosity made this a lifetime memory.
