HOUGHTON - A pair of former Michigan Tech hockey Huskies captured the championship of the 2013 Portage Lake Best Ball Sunday at Portage Lake Golf Course.
The team of Mike Hauswirth (Portage Lake) and Kevin Manninen, a Calumet native, rolled to victory by three shots with their 14-under 130.
Hauswirth played for Tech from 1989-92, Manninen from 1990-92.

Hauswirth and Manninen had the lead after the first day with a 64 in the qualifying round, but the team of Casey Bjorn and Mark Clements entered the finishing day just a shot behind.
Hauswirth-Manninen put four early birdies on the board to expand their lead to five and put away their first title since 2007. Bjorn-Clements made a late run to solidify their second-place finish.
Zach Langdon and Steve Reed ended up six shots off the pace.
