Lightning cuts short Little League thriller

June 1, 2013
The Daily Mining Gazette

HANCOCK - Lightning put an abrupt end to a closely contested Junior Little League game Friday night at Hancock Driving Park.

Keweenaw #2 got an inside-the-park home run by Grant Johnson with one out in the sixth inning to pull within 3-2 against Kevin's Self Storage, but lightning ended the game with that final.

Kevin's Self Storage improved to 3-0 on the season behind a complete-game outing from Hans Stimac, who struck out 12 and gave up just one earned run on four hits and no walks.

Grant Hokenson from KSS led all hitters with a 3-for-3 night, while Johnson tallied a pair of hits for Keweenaw, including the home run.
