HANCOCK - Hancock couldn't stop a parade to the plate by the visiting Gladstone Indians Saturday, as the visitors swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader 17-5 and 15-9.
The top four batters in the Gladstone line-up combined to go 8-for-15 in game one and scored 15 of the visitors' 17 runs.
Gladstone got to Hancock starter Tyler LaDuron for four first-inning runs, then added two in the third and three in the fourth for a 9-0 lead.
Justin Jurek got the win, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing five runs on six hits.
For Hancock, Mike Saari had two hits and Justin Ruotsala hit a solo home run.
Gladstone got another quick start in game two with three runs in the first and two in the second for a 5-1 lead, with only LaDuron's RBI double in reply.
Gladstone put the game away with five unearned runs in the third.
Hancock put four on the board to avoid the mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that only cut the gap to 13-7. Both sides scored twice in the seventh.
Christian Groleau got the win, going five innings, while Mike Saari went the distance for the loss.
