Pat’s bats blaze to slowpitch win

HOUGHTON - Pat's Foods scored 12 times in the first inning Monday and held on to defeat Miller's Lanes/The Edge/906 Enterprises 19-12 in Copper County men's slowpitch league play at Hurontown.

Ben Steber was a home run short of the cycle and Jace Fritzler and Logan Rastello also had three-hit games.

In the late game, Team 7 outslugged Downtowner 2 37-23. No stats were available for the winners, but DT2 got five hits from both Lee Deforge and Jeff Lipari-Jordan.

Dave Usitalo went 4-for-6 with a double, while four players had three hits and Erik Nettell homered.

McGann's/Northern Auto routed American Legion Post 90 in Laurium. Mark Koski hit for the cycle and went 5-for-6. Dan Juopperi, Ray Wojtala, Jason Koski and Craig Koski had four-hit games.
