Billy “Nicky” Provost

BIG TRAVERSE - Billy "Nicky" Provost, 80, of Big Traverse, passed away on June 30, 2013 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

He was born on July 16, 1932, a son of William R. and Rose E. (Christianson) Provost.

He served in the U.S. Army from December of 1952 until December of 1954 as a cook. He was employed by C&H Mining Company and later worked for UPPCO until his retirement.

Billy was married to Dottie Canterberry on January 1, 1989. She passed away in March of 2003.

He was an avid golfer and bowler and was known to have bowled some "300 games." He also loved boating. In his younger years, he enjoyed downhill skiing and boxing.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two sisters, Crescence and Lori.

Billy is survived by his daughters; Judy (Victor) Mendoza of Phoenix, Ariz., Melody (Bob Freeman) Provost-Holmes of Norway, Mich., and Candy (Eric) of Apple Woodland Hills, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends; Annette and Mike Brouillette of Calumet; and many other friends and family that will sadly miss him.

There will be no public services. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
