Stephen E. Keranen

CENTENNIAL - Stephen E. Keranen, 50, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Friday July 19, 2013, at Portage Health in Hancock.

He was born on December 27, 1962, in Laurium, son of Arthur and Jean (Salonen) Keranen. He attended local schools and graduated from Calumet High School in 1981.

Stephen worked as a Baker for several of the area's grocery stores.

He enjoyed biking with his siblings in his younger years and was a ham radio operator, KS8R.

He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet.

Preceding him in death was his father in 1997.

Surviving are his mother, Jean; four brothers, David of Calumet, Peter of Delano, Minn., Matthew of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joel of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Anne of Calumet; six uncles, one aunt and numerous cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Keranen will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 23, in the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Richard Eskola officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday until noon at the funeral home.
