HOUGHTON - The trial of a Houghton man who allegedly molested a 13-year-old girl has been scheduled for sometime in September.
Chad LaPointe, 26, appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court for a pretrial hearing Monday. He is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13, a 15-year felony; fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a girl at least 13 years old but younger than 16, a two-year misdemeanor; and two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes, a four-year felony.
The charges are split between two files, both involving the same alleged victim.

The incidents allegedly took place in Houghton and Lake Linden.
Prosecutor Michael Makinen said there would be a motion to combine the two files into one trial. The two-day trial was set for 30 to 45 days.
